* First fold the filter in half.
* Then fold the small half circle tab inwards.
* Fold the filter in half again.
* Open the cone with your fingers so that 3 leaves of the filter are on one side. Place that side against the spout when putting the filter into the carafe. This is so that there is more stability of the filter towards the spout to help prevent vacuum sealing.
You are now ready to place your coffee grounds in the filter and begin brewing.
What is the difference between the white and brown filter paper?
All the filters will function in the same way, it just comes down to personal preference for which you choose. The white filter paper goes through an oxygen cleansing bath followed by a series of hot water baths. The brown filter paper goes through only the hot water baths, retaining the “natural” wood color. We don’t use any bleach or chemicals in our filter paper. They are both compostable.
Why are some of the filters circles and some squares?
All the filters will function in the same way, it just comes down to personal preference for which you choose. Some people like the points on the square filters for easy removal, while others prefer to have the top of the filter flusher with the carafe.
Why are some filters Pre-folded and others not?
All the filters will function in the same way, it just comes down to personal preference for which you choose. The “halfmoon filters” (itemcodes FP-2, FP-2N) for the 3 cup and Funnex do not come pre folded due to their design and size. We offer pre-folded circles and squares for your convenience. However, some people prefer to fold their own circles and therefore we also offer the Un-folded filter circle (item code FP-1).
